Colombia Finca La Lenuria
Colombia La Lemuria One Roast
We will look back on this coffee, as the end of an era. John and Claudia have been delivering small lots of excellent quality coffees from Tolima (in Colombia) but have had to stop. The risks have become too high with a combination of military, politics and the costs of buying and moving coffee. It is genuinely sad, but as the saying goes “even the wisest know when to cease!”

La Lemuria is sweet and malty with a soft apple note on the opening. After a few sips, a chocolatey element builds and “Is that sesame?” Possibly a first for me! On cooling the acidity blossoms and becomes like grapefruit and the cocoa lingers. This end-of-chapter coffee is beguiling. With hints of sweetness, a savoury nod and almost everyone loves cocoa?
Filter Recipe:
60g a litre and upwards in filter. I have brewed this in so many ways and enjoyed all of them…
Farm Stuff.
This is another nano lot from The Green Collection. John and Claudia have owned their own farm in Tolima, which was taken over by rebels years ago and their mission is to offer stability to small-scale producers, by paying premiums.
There are various theories about where the name La Lemuria comes from. One theory I have looked at originates in Tamil, which some think is the oldest human language. Kumari Kandam, (a version of Atlantis) is a legendary sunken landmass mentioned in Tamil literature.
